IPAL (Instalasi Pengolahan Air Limbah/ Waste Water Treatment Plant) BTDC or known as BTDC Lagoon, constructed in 1976 with capacity of 10,000 m3/ day, started operation in 1980. BTDC Lagoon covers 30 hectares of land surface, 17 hectares of which have been used for the installations and pumps. Consists of 2 installations; water treatment facilities (cell 1, 2a, 2b and 3), another installation is irÂrigation processing facilities (aerator pool, sedimenÂtation and filtration pool). BTDC Lagoon provides home, harbour to population of fishes which in turn become biological indicator and at the same time they will attract flocks of bird to settle down and gave birth to a new ecosysÂtem.
With the new technology called DAF system which stands for Dissolved Air Floatation, PT. ITDC has appointed PT. Gapura Liqua Solutions to construct the system on site. PT. GLS has started the construction early 2017 and currently going through commissioning test phase, making sure all parts of the system are running perfectly. The DAF system dissolves air in the water or wastewater under pressure and then releasing the air at atmospheric pressure in a flotation tank basin. The released air forms tiny bubbles which adhere to the suspended matter causing the suspended matter to float to the surface of the water where it may then be removed by a skimming device. After the water is being treated by PT. GLS, PT. ITDC will be provided with better waste water for their irrigation water which is suitable for watering garden, golf course and the entire park in Nusa Dua Resort and also a healthier ecosystem for fishes and flocks of birds.
